Chock Full of Beans

Introducing a place right at the East side of Singapore, at Changi Village. Changi Village is normally only famous for their Nasi Lemak at the newly re-opened hawker centre. But there's this place that has its specialty. For people who like coffee art, this is the place to be. They also serve good food. I brought my girlfriend here for our one month celebration.

The Menu

Mushroom Soup $7

Comments: Quite diluted soup, has the mushroom taste, but not good enough to cost $7

Nachos Chips $5

Comments: Not sure if their cheese dip is freshly made but it's really nice. It's really thick and full of cheese flavor. Not too salty too.

Caffe Mocha $5.50 (R)

Comments: Nice coffee with nice coffee art of Doraemon. The biscuit that comes with it is also nice.

We brought our Doraemon (Winkie) along for our 1 month anniversary dinner.

Winkie says Hi with the 2 cups of coffee with coffee art.

Linguine Aglio Olio with Prawns and Squid $16

Comments: The dish is very light and fresh, just like how a good Aglio Olio would taste like. The seafood came fresh too.

Hawaiian Pizza $23

Comments: Their Pizza is nice. Thin in the center and fluffy crust which makes it easy to eat. Although the crust could be made a little less burnt though.

Doraemon Coffee Art with color. Hazelnut Latte

Coffee Art in Focus

Winkie says Thanks for reading A Hungry Singaporean. Wishing everyone A Happy Lunar New Year. Will be back with a new update next week.

Overall Review: Place is quite small, which makes it really cosy. Staff are REALLY GOOD! Great customer service. Overall a really nice place to hangout and chill, rather than going to the expensive coffee joints although they have to air-con outside.

NYDC

Had a primary school gathering recently and it was held at NYDC. NYDC has been around in Singapore for the longest time and this probably my 1st time here and I felt the food was really quite good.

Mushroom Chicken Soup
Comment: Ordinary tasting soup

The Handcrafted Beef Burger

Comments: It looks good and my friend who ate this said it tasted good. Did not get a chance to try it though, you guys can try it for yourselves.

Spaghetti Bolognaise

Comments: 3 people ordered it, 3 people finished it, so I guess it's nice.

3 Amigos About $13

Comments: Apparently this did not taste as nice as it seems and sounds. The pasta was tasteless, and quite soggy.

Mushroom Ham About $13

Comments: This was really good. Topped up with their dynamite chilli for $1 and it's really nice (not recommended for people who can't take spicy). I took rice instead of pasta. The rice tasted like chicken rice though. The mushroom was also nice.

Various types of Ice Cream

Comments: You can't go wrong with ice creams can you. Anyway NYDC is suppose to be famous for their desserts.

Overall Review: The food was quite good. Maybe western do not appeal to the Asian crowd, when we were there, it was not crowded. I would highly recommend this place for gatherings because the decor is just very warm. Although I did not have a chance to try their desserts, it is known to be good, so do go try. Sorry I did not have the prices for some dishes.

The Mayor of Tiny Town

Halloween night and me and my friends were finding a place for dinner before heading to Halloween Horrors Nights 2 at Universal Studios Singapore. A friend's friend then invited me to her restaurant for dinner. Took up the offer since it's near USS and there was a Halloween set menu to set us up for Halloween mood.

Halloween special set menu

Spider's Pumpkin Brew

Comments: Like the chef's creativity. Do you see the spider? Anyway whenever I drink pumpkin soup, I compare it with my sister's version as there are not many that taste as delicious as hers. I found this pumpkin soup a bit diluted but still is tasty.

Monster's Minestrone Brew

Comments: Did not taste it, but my friend said it was ok, tasted normal.

Witches' hair with devil eye

Comments: Presentation looks very nice but I was kinda disappointed by the bland spaghetti and the over-cooked salmon.(I feedback to the boss already)

Zombie's Brain

Comments: I preferred this. Loved the cheese baked rice but the chicken cutlet was slightly dry

Scrambled Eggs & Crab Mayo $12.90

Comments: The scrambled eggs was nice but the crab mayo was not that fantastic.

Hammie's Omelette $13.90

Comments: My friend said that it was a bit bland and did not really like it after a few bites.

Overall Review:  Even though my review is a bit on the negative side, I hope that they will take it in their stride and work out a formula to brush up their food. The outlet is very new, probably about 2 months old, so they would need all the valuable feedback to make their food more tasty. Do support so that they can improve. I will go back again 1 day to try the Braised Pork Belly Rice, and I hope I won't get disappointed.

Recommendation: 5.5/10
