Domani

Located at the basement of Ngee Ann City is this small restaurant called Domani that sells Spanish and Italian Cuisine food. It's a really small restaurant, therefore during meal times, there may be a queue. The place is cosy with a nice ambience due to it's dark interior. The food is not that expensive too and it's quite nice. Below is a short review on the food.

Fritto Calamari $6

Comments: The batter was nice with its slight crisp on it. Not sure if their tar-tar sauce was home made, but it complimented the calamari well. If only they added a bit of their crispy crumbs.

Bruschetta Salmon

Comments: Part of the set meal, ordered the Bruschetta Salmon. Poorly done though. Just a piece of salmon on a baguette with butter.

Ajillo Shrimp $5

Comments: A type of Spanish appetizer. Fresh shrimp topped with a little chilli powder with button mushrooms soaked in olive oil and garlic. It's a refreshing dish as it perks up your pallets. The shrimp is cooked just nice and taste sweet.

Iberico Pork and Cream Tomato Shrimp Spaghetti $26.90 meal with the Bruschetta Salmon

Comments: A combination of 2 main meals. Firstly, the pork is really nice. Cooked nicely with a little bit of fat. The sauce not too salty
The spaghetti was not bad too with it's freshly made tomato sauce and fresh prawns. Spaghetti cooked nicely.

Overall Review: A nice place to have dinner, but the staff there can be quite slow and un-attentive. The food is nice as it is a fusion of Italian and Spanish dishes. Not many places in Singapore sell Spanish food too. The pricing is also not as expensive although it is located in the town area.

Ambush Sausage and Pasta Bar

Hidden in a small corner of Takashimaya lies this small shop. It was really ambushed literally. But I'm glad it was introduced to me by my buddy. Here's my short review as always:

Soup of the day and Garlic Bread and drink: $3.80

Comments: A set meal consists of a Soup of the Day and a garlic bread, topped with a drink.

Linguine with Japanese Baby Scallops with Cream Fish Roe Sauce: $11.20

Comments: Really loved how the sauce was really creamy, they gave a lot of scallops too, unlike other places that give a few only. The noodle was soft and nice, sauce was not too salty.

Wild Salmon with Linguine $11.80

Comments: The salmon was cooked perfectly, the mayonnaise seems like a mis-matched though. As I'm not a fan of tomato sauce pasta, I found the sauce a bit salty, but my friend said it was ok.

Slipper Lobster Pasta : $14.20

Comments: I did really taste the dish, but my friend said it was ok.

Overall review: A good alternative to the usual Pasta Mania. The only bad thing about the place is that it's small, and if you go during dinner time, you might not find a seat. But the service staff are really friendly because they actually asked a couple to switch places so that they could free up the table for my bigger group.
Recommendation: 7.5/10
